About two and a half weeks until Summer begins. School gets out May 24 for seventh and eighth graders, sadly for teachers they have to stay an extra day. Some of us are planning some fun activities we are going to try. And some of us are going on vacation. But for the people who are going to be home, here are some summer ideas.

DIYs/Activities:

  • Summer Bucket List
  • Clothes Pins – write your DIY’S
  • Bucket

– DIY color powder

           -1 cup cornstarch (or flour)

           – ½ cup water

           – food coloring

  1. Mix the flour/cornstarch and water in a large bowl until it forms a thick paste.
  2. Add your favorite food coloring to the paste and mix it in with your hands. (You may want to wear gloves!)
  3. Scoop the paste from the bowl and form it into a ball with your hands.
  4. Use a rolling pin to flatten the ball into a disc that is about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Let the disc sit overnight, until it has completely dried.
  6. Use a coffee grinder or blender to crumble the disc back into powder. Use a flour sifter to separate clumps. Put any remaining clumps of powder back in the grinder or blender, and repeat until all color is a soft powder

– Glow Sticks in a pool (literally)

– Paint Slipping Slide

          – slip ‘n’ slide

          – white shirt

          – color variety of paints

Throw on your white t-shirt. Lay out your slipping slide and splatter your favorite colors of paint on it and have fun.
