Many students at Sierra don’t eat breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast will give people energy through the day. Eating breakfast will kick start your metabolism and will not make you as hungry before lunch.

“Breakfast has long been considered the most important meal of the day. Recent research has reaffirmed its nutritional benefits as well as other positive outcomes including: feelings of well-being immediately after consumption and longer-term improvements in overall diet quality.” Johanna Dwyer said.

Some of the students eat breakfast, but what they eat isn’t healthy. Some cereals have the first, second, or, third ingredient as sugar. Eating too much sugar increases the chances of getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some types of cancer.

Most students say that the reason they don’t eat breakfast is because they don’t have enough time to. But, if students could make their breakfast faster and easily they will probably want to eat breakfast more.

Here are a few simple ideas:

Have a bowl of fruit
Eat some yogurt/make a yogurt popsicle
Toast with toppings
You can make your breakfast the night before so it is ready in the morning

If you do have enough time in the morning to make your breakfast here are a few other ideas:

Eggs
Omelets
Egg Sandwiches
