Research states that a lot of our favorite foods can increase the chances of cancer. Many studies have done work to prove that this is true.

According to Cancer Center, processed meats are the number one food that causes cancer.  It also states that eating 50 grams of processed meat, the equivalent of four strips of bacon or one hot dog, every day increases the risk of cancer by 18 percent. Examples of processed meat are hot dogs, sausage, bacon, beef jerky, salami, pepperoni and prosciutto.

Cancer Center also states red meats have also been proven to be linked to a cause of cancer. Such as beef, pork, lamb, veal, mutton, horse and goat. To reduce your risk, eating no more than 700 grams of red meat a week.

On the other hand, according to DMR, 65% of Americans that would support bacon as the ‘National Food’. Many people eat a lot more bacon than recommended. But majority of Americans eat bacon and knowing that this meat causes cancer, may or may not change their opinions.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that the chemical coating in microwave popcorn bags breaks down into perfluorooctanoic (PFOA), which can be a likely carcinogen. This chemical has been proven to cause cancer in animals, and possibly in humans.

Many could say that you need the meat for nutrients, like protein, but studies say that avoiding eating a lot of this meat can decrease the chances of cancer.
