On April 4-6th, the After- School Drama Program performed The Little Mermaid Jr. at Sierra Middle School on the stage in the cafeteria. The Drama Program had been working on this play since January, and were doing the play to put on a quality production for the audience.

“I believe it was an important experience. I had a great time and it gave me new friends and skills,” Molly Nichols said.

The play was about an hour and 45 minutes with a 15 minute intermission in the middle, that allowed the audience to purchase snacks from the school store, and walk around.

Some of the main leads were Ariel played by Jaime Toomer, Prince Eric played by Casey Kauffman, Ursula played by Rebecca Hensley, Sebastian played by Ben Scharbach, and Flounder played by Brandon Oster- Wickstrom. Members of the Drama Program also created their own props such as waves, a giant shell, and a cabinet to hold Ariel’s gadgets.

“I don’t think I will do anymore theatre at Sierra, but maybe try high school musicals. I think all of us were actually acting like we were the characters, and getting to know people better than what you see on the surface,” said Molly Nichols.
