The walkout on March 14th at Sierra was disrespectful and many of the students did the walk out just to get out of class and to see their friends.

The walk out was supposed to be 17 minutes of silence for the seventeen lives lost in the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, but everyone was talking to their friends and playing on their phones.

“The kids didn’t even realize what was going on. It’s like it didn’t matter to any of them, which breaks my heart,” said Angie Stowbridge.

Some of the teachers encouraged the walk out but many teachers did not support the walk out at all. The teachers were very disappointed with how the walk out went and how many of the students took advantage of the walk out

“I thought that a lot of the kids don’t know why they were outside so there was no purpose of doing it, ” said Amanda Grosskrueger.

The students did not handle the situation well at all and should have been more respectful and responsible as a student, most of the kids who were outside are about to be freshman and they should learn to grow up and care more about things that could affect them other than their friends and phones.
