Q: What is your favorite part about being a dog handler?

A: My favorite part is that we get to help kids with Remi and we get to see the joy in kids when they see Remi.

Q: What did you have to do to become a dog handler?

A: We had to get a recommendation from all of our teachers and a letter from your parents as a recommendation.

Q: How often do you get to work with Remi?

A: Probably about 3 to 4 days a week, but it depends on how often Mrs.Gourley is here.

Q: What do you do on days that Remi isn’t here?

A: I will do homework or we go and help other teachers that need help.

Q: Has the program with Remi been going well so far?

A: Yes she has been disobedient sometimes but overall it has been good.

Q: Do you think that the program will go on for years to come?

A: Yes I think that we should get another dog because it is sometimes stressfull for Remi but I think that it is going well.

Q: What changes are they making to the program for next year?

A: They are asking that kids have a 3.5 or higher GPA to apply.

Q: How often do you feed Remi and give her treats?

A: We give her one treat a day but we don’t have to feed her.

Q: What do you do when there is not kid in Base Camp and Remi is here?

A: We work on her commands and we play around with her.

Q: If there are any changes that you would want in the program what would they be?

A: I would want to be able to take her to other classrooms or just out of Base Camp more often.
